I have an '81 diesel engine in my '79 rabbit.  I was wondering how to tell if the engine is a two stroke or a four
stroke.

ALL car engines are four stroke engines unless they are a wankel rotary found in mazda's INTAKE-COMPRESSION-POWER-EXHAUST FIRING ORDER 1-3-4-2 for yours.
