How many miles per gallon should a 63 beetle get?

newly rebuilt stock engine, rebuilt trans, trying to figure out what mileage to expect when complete, Thanks!

I believe it was originally rated at about 35mpg. If the vehicle has been well maintained, I would expect to at least see 30mpg even now.

I had a 1957 and a 1965 Beetle. They both averaged about 28 MPG. But I drove them both pretty hard.

Hard to geuss. Air-cooled engines tend to vary alot more than they ought to. A Type 4 engine can range from 20-40mpg depending on carb. setup. Dunno how much this applies to Type 1 and 2's but I'd assume it's similar.

My 1300 using Solex H30 PICS Carburetor performed 14,27 kms/ litro on a road curies speed 80 kms/ h.... ( 40 mpg ) imperial gallon It’s excelent for me...
