Annoying Beep....

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello!!
I have a 1993 VW Golf III, three door, manual drive. I am getting the most annoying beep when I drive my car. It seems like it's like my friends Hundai had the same thing and he said it was a fuel efficiancy alarm. The car is telling him when to shift gears.

is they ANY way to turn that beeping off. It effects my driving more than saving me fuel, (if that's what it even is) because I am driving in 4th gear so the beeping stops!

Any help would be very much appreciated!

thanks!!

You may have a sensor (vehicle speed sensor) or a transmission sensor going bad reporting that you need to shift. Take your car into a mechanic and have the computer codes read to figure out what could be going wrong.
