i was given this jetta, and when you drive
around 40mph it’s at 3,000 rpms and won’t
shift at all. also when my lights are on low
beam my speedometer and rpm reader don’t
light up but the engine light and seat belt sign
and what not do. i know NOTHING about cars
please help!
First take it to your local auto parts store and have them read any trouble codes that have been set. Write them down and post them here and we will try to help.
The instrument cluster problem sounds like a bad ground. If you have an aftermarket stereo I'd look for the bad ground there first. If you have a dipstick for the automatic transmission, check the fluid level. It might be low. The person at the auto parts store should be able to show you how to check it. Or if you have the owner's manual you can find out if you have a dipstick, where it is, and how to check the transmission fluid level. Hope that helps! Jim
