I have to replace my timing belt because it has broken while I was driving and it died!Is there any chance I have done other damage other than a broken belt?

yes you might be looking at an engine. the engine is a interferance engine.
You may not have done any real damage. my timing belt has snapped twice on me. the car still runs after replacing the belt.
good chance you bent all the valves in the motor cause its not a rotary engine
lots of non rotary engines are freewheeling... although a mx-3 is not one of them...
It is an interference engine so you probably bent a valve or two. you'll need to do a compression test to find out.
Mx-3's have NON-interference motors. At least the B6's do.
The 1.6 I-4 and the 1.8L v6 are NON-interference engines. Just replace the belt and zoom zoom.
