Car stops running

Asked by Myamaurice Apr 27, 2016 at 08:20 AM about the 2005 Mazda RX-8

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 rx8 iv had it to the shop several
times and still can't get the problem fixed.when my
car heats up the car will start acting like it's going
to stop running and does so every time I get to a
red light or a stop sign unless I put it in in part or
neutral. Does anyone know what this could be.

of course, scan the computer for codes, check for vacuum leaks. Also, just for kicks (if you have an automatic trans), try to locate the tcc, or torque converter control solenoid on the transmission. if you can, unplug it and see if the problem "fixes" if so that's your problem.

Thank you so much. Also is it likely that all cylinders would be bad.I also smell coolant when car is running.I took it too Mazda they told me I need a radiator and resouvlor. Would this be the case.or are they trying to get more money for me.also I have has no engine light or temp change

I don't think your problem the way you describe it has anything to do with bad cylinders, an easy compression test would determine any weak cylinders however. If you are smelling coolant, there is likely a leak somewhere, the only thing I could suggest is to find an independent shop and get a second opinion. Tell them about all we have discussed here.
