Is a 1992 dodge dakota transmission compatible with a 94 ram 1500?

I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 318 V8 motor, automatic 4 speed. My trans is
down and I have a friend with a 92 dakota that will sell me the transmission. The dakota
has a 3.9 V6 and is an automatic, which I'm told should bolt up to a V8 if the pattern
matches, but I wanted to see if anyone had any input on here?

the v6 trans is not strong enough for the v8, whether it bolts up or not.
