How do I fix problem turn signals working intermittently

Asked by Victor Jul 11, 2022 at 08:47 PM about the 2000 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The turn signals on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 work only intermittently.
Sometimes not at all. Tried to see if relay in fuse box was the problem - no luck.
Guy at Autozone said it was relay under the dash. I cannot find anything under
the dash resembling a relay. Please advise.

Flasher, sometimes referred to as combination flasher (handles both turn signals and emergency flashers, though via separate circuits, so one may work while the other does not). Solder points begin to disintegrate over time, so it sometimes makes solid connection and other times does not. Had same problem with an '02 Jeep, had replaced turn signal switch and checked all fuses and relays. Finally replaced the flasher (pain to reach), and that fixed it.
