Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck is a 2wd ram 1500 reg cab.when it's cold
out I let it warm up before I even go to drive it and
even after letting it warm up sometimes it'll go into
drive fine but once I stop and put it in park and go
to drive again ill go to back up it'll rev high not go
anywhere then catch and wanna stall out.the other
day I went to the store right down the road and
pulled out onto the road and it slipped out of gear
and reved high and wouldn't go anywhere then
caught and was fine getting home...What could
that be?

Most common are the shift solenoids getting varnished up and sticking especiall if the tranny has not been serviced properly, sometimes a service and adding a quart of TransX will work but usually you wind up still needing the solenoids replaced. A good transmission shop can plug in and run a specific set of tests to determine if it is the solenoids or you have internal pressure problems and let you know what it will take to fix it.

U can use a half of tea spoon of water or break fluid what it does is tightens the bands an most folks will say don't well I no first hand it works and the change ur screen (filter) and fluids
