if this indeed happened than the effects could be monstrous. i'm not sure about your automotive background but the motor continuing to rotate with the cam shaft not spinning via a sheared bolt would cause every cylinder that went through it's rotation to go smashing into your open valves. now being this is a late model truck, it might be possible that it has a sensor that kills the engine before damage is caused. if a cam shaft ceased to spin while the engine was running then every system on the vehicle should have been affected from fuel delivery to to ignition, causing it to "emergency cutoff"....unless you heard or felt an earth shattering noise coming from the engine before it shut off, then maybe you're in luck, however they still might have to remove the intake/heads to replace the broken cam shaft. all that having ben said, i've never heard of this happening on a new ram, and i've only seen it a few times at the drag strip. but i'm pushing 600 hp in the super pro class and have only seen this like twice.
