Overheating issue.

Our water pump went out and we replaced it.  Kept over heating and going back to normal.  Replace thermostat.  Still had the problem of overheating and then going back to normal!  Got to checking and radiator had a leak.  Replaced radiator and it ran fine for about a half hour.  Started overheating and going back to normal.  Out of ideas as to what it could be.  Any ideas as to why the gauge would go to red then back to normal and back up again?

leaky head gasket or intake gasket can casue air pockets in your system and the car will overheat to a certain point then the thermostat opens and cools to normal. Should only do this on cold starts. Have your system tested for combustion gases, this can tell if it's the head gasket. Have a pressure test done on the cooling system. You may get lucky and the system just needs bled.

My 2002 kept overheating during low speeds. I had to change the slow speed fan as the high speed fan was working very well. It would overheat when sttopped or in slow traffic. Now it works great!!!
