Question type: Maintenance & Repair

its a very heavy trunk lid and I just know its going to get damaged if i dont fix the hydrolic rods soon. I have to be extremely careful closing it now and forget letting the lid close from too high a level as it just slams and all that weight coming down is way too much force. PLEASE HELP!!

most of them are usually held in with clips that keeps the rod ends in place. Using something to temporary hold the trunk in open position say a broom stick, wood or anything sturdy. If they are held in by clips, you can usually remove them by using pilers to slide them out. I think any auto parts store would have them and those items are called trunk lift supports.
