98 Park Avenue power controls not working

Asked by SheilaMcDonald Jul 19, 2015 at 05:23 PM about the 1998 Buick Park Avenue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All power controls on driver's side door have quit working including power windows, locks,
mirrors and memory controls. I guessed it probably a fuse(s) in rear fuse box, but can't
figure out which one. Please help.

Google owners manual and the year, make and model of your vehicle.

I have the car manual. I seen the diagram for the fuse box but in looking at the abbreviations I'm just not sure which abbreviation is for the fuse(s) I am looking for. I thought also that problem maybe inside the door also since none of the controls are working.

That sounds more like your problem. Follow the wires from door to where they go through the door to inside of the vehicle maybe the wires got caught in between to door and the frame and may have been broken in half.

You will have to take the door panel off to check the wires.

This sounds like you have a water problem, either from a sunroof or door leak. Water gets into the wire harness under the drivers seat and rots the wire that communicates to the three doors. In my 2000 Bonneville I had the same issue and found that it was a light brown wire with a white stripe under the drivers seat spliced together and duck taped. Removed that splice and re-did it and everything now works. Hope this helps..
