I think you need to take it back to the shop that did the work and or find a new mechanic.

I'm guessing you didn't use a Toyota Dealer for this work, and your mechanic didn't know how to do the work. You're now kinda stuck. You have to let that mechanic do all the subsequent repairs to get it right; no matter how frustrating this is going to be. Hybrid systems are NOT easy and many mechanics won't do them. So have the problems addressed and if in three or four retries he can't fix it, have him refund your money and take the car to a mechanic who specializes in HYBRID CARS..... By that time, the car's probably going to be so screwed-up anyway, it might be best to just sell it for parts and write off the six-grand worth.

I do. Every vehicle reaches the point where you're just throwing good money after bad. One thing goes wrong so you fix it. Then something else, and something else, and so on. It becomes a battle you're never going to win because the vehicle is just worn out! A minor repair here and there like a water pump, or maybe a radiator, a battery, or an alternator, or brakes can be expected on an older model. But when you're talking about a major repair that often is very close to or more than the value of the vehicle it's time to move on to something newer. It's more cost effective in the long run. The same is true if you start having multiple small repairs. But it's your vehicle and your money so you have to do what you think is best. But I've been down this road before and I can tell you a 15 year old vehicle is not worth putting a new engine in. Especially when you're talking about a used engine that you know nothing about. You're replacing one worn out engine with another. Make no sense to me! Good luck to you! Jim
