Vehicle is 26 years old. No telling how it was maintained. Decision is, what shape is the rest of the vehicle in? Can you afford spot fixes on an engine that old? Check out the price to have a Motorcraft remanufactured engine installed vs repairing what you have. Keep in mind rebuild engines are usually rebuilt up to the point of failure. Remaned engines are just that. A much deeper level work.
