Clicking noise

Asked by Matt Jun 01, 2016 at 01:07 AM about the 1997 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck has been clicking when I turn the ignition.
It starts eventually but it has been happening for a
few days.  I can't tell if it is the starter or the
battery.

It sounds like the battery is about to fail; If vehicle battery is non- gel, you can carefully pop off the lid on the battery which exposes the cells, top off the liquid with distilled water and recap lid. If still have the same isssue after a running on a few times to let alternator recharge battery to capacity, then you may want to look into a battery replacement.
