Engine lighs dont tend to come on just coz service is due. low oil level can cause this however i would still get it checked. this sounds more like coicidence rather than being linked to a due service.

Beware of taking the gas cap of while the engine is running... that will trigger the "check engine lite".

if you just want to clear it and see if it comes back disconnect the battery for a minute or so.may have to short the cables together with them both being disconected for some faults to clear.but should read them first.sometimes wastin money a diagnosing fault that isnt present and only happend one time you will get sold something you dont necessarily need.
