Where is the alternator located on a 1989 Tempo?

Obviously I don't know anything, but I think it is the alternator that sparked and had flames coming out of it and I need to have it replaced.  I need to know what to ask for when I talk to a mechanic.

Have the mechanic look at it. If it is the alternator he will know what to do.
