Sorry I thought I had posted the full question what I meant to ask was: I have a 1974 Ford F-250 and I want to replace the steering column. Can I replace it with a steering column from a later year F-250?

1973 to '79 Fords had basically the same body style so those years should work. I would check with an Auto Wrecker, who has a Hollander book for those years, and that carries older models like that. Most don't keep cars that old and therefor would not have the Hollander parts exchange book that cover those years. Do a Google search too. That column will be hard to find most likely.
