Does the egr valve hose have anything to do
with the muffler or catalytic converter?

If you are talking the rubber hose that runs to the EGR, then no.

Looks like there is a metal tube that hooks up to the EGR valve. The EGR is for Exhaust Gas Recirculation, which is part of the emission set up on your vehicle. Still has nothing to do with the muffler or catalytic converter. I bet you have a plugged cat. if the engine is holding back.

Its holding back and useing lots of fuel the mufler shop that I got the entire system it is the man gasket.

So I don't get what you are getting at. Totally new exhaust but need a exhaust manifold gasket? Was the cat replaced?

You may have a metal tube that runs from the EGR valve to the exhaust. This is where the exhaust gas comes from that is recirculated by the EGR valve.
