Hi befitz (great sign-in!). Here's a link to a site with a decoder and a lot of other great info about your F150. I hope it's helpful and I hope you enjoy it. Good luck! http://www.fordf150.net/howto/decodevin.php

befitz, on a 1986 f150 such as mine (x15)body code from vin, the 14 u refer to as the rear axle code is a 3750# capacity-3.00 ratio rear axle. there is no where in my owners manual for the trans code but a haynes manual or chiltons should give it. odds are if it is an automatic it will be AOD (automatic overdrive)3 spd w/overdrive. hope this helps

a K is an Automatic C6 transmission the 14 is a 3.00 gear ratio ford rear end .. so it's not a limited slip or dana diff ..
