77 F150 Starting Problems

so far ive chnged the coil, the solenoid and ignition switch.. when I turn the key I get two or three clicks coming from driver side where there is a black circular thing?What else can i do I also tried to bank the starter while someone is trying to turn key but nothing.

Is the black round thing your starter motor? When the voltage is low coming from the battery the start sol. will click. You must first make sure your battery connections are clean by removing them from the battery and sanding/cleaning the post and the cable ends. And if replacement ends have been put on you need to clean where they are bolted together. Also check the other end of the cables where the neg. bolts to the motor and where the pos. bolts to the sol. and then to the starter. Do this and make sure your battery has a strong charge in it.. Just because your lights come on doesn't mean it's strong. It take ten times more power to turn your starter than to light your lights.

Ok I'll have the battery chk .. No the round thing is plastic right by the driver side .. I've noticed the starter battery connection is dirty n oily and clean it out thanks will try.
The black, round thing on the fender well is a starter solenoid, It should have 2 large cables and at least 1, if not 2, wires attached. If your battery has been tested and is ok, the cable connections are good, clean and tight, it's possible that the starter motor has malfunctioned or perhaps the motor is frozen. You can pull the starter, (2 bolts, a cable and about 20 minutes on your back) take it to the parts store and have it tested for free. Several years back, certain parts houses had rebuilt starters and alternators using Bakelite (compressed wood fiber) shims and washers. They work for a while but only a short while. to check the motor for seizure - a 1/2" breaker bar and a socket on the main pulley will tell you if things still spin or not.
The black round thingie bolted to the firwall and will bit in your hand is the starter solenoid. If it is shot, it clicks, Try jumping it from there. If it starts, replace the black thingie. Clean all the terminal connections from the batter. If there is not enough "juice" getting to it, it clicks.
