Where could if find all Engine/Body colors and specs regarding 1972 chevelle malibu 4 door (1D39)(H)(500001)???

I cant find anything on my grandfathers car. Its in semi mint condition and needs a few things. Engine needs to be gone through, molding are bad. my father tore into it about 15 years ago and half put it back together. I'm here to finish it. What did it look like when he purchased it new? what where the options that i might add without taking away from its original self? my grandfather took really good care of his things and must have know i would do the same so if anyone could help thank you very much.
