I have a 65 impala with a 396 in it, but in the vin# there is the letter D. I haven't been able to find out where the D means it was made from. Any help?

Hello sp1ke05-- There was no designation D as the seventh digit in the VIN of a 1965 Chevrolet Impala. Take another look. To see what those first seven figures mean, go to-- http://www.autoinsurancetips.com/chevrolet_vin.htm. Good luck from Bovan.

Thats what I thought too, but it is a D and the same letter is on my engine with that last six of the vin#. Some other guys emailed me back and said that the D was from Doraville, GA.

The 1965 National Auto Service Tune-up book I have indicates the D is Atlanta GA.
