Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm trying to get an insurance quote & they want the sticker price of the car when it was new. I just bought the car last weekend for $500 & have no idea how to find the sticker price of it.

I have been buying insurance for 45 years and no insurance company ever asked me that. Call a Dealer is all I can think of or tell them if they want to sell you a policy find out themselves and do the work instead of laying it off on you, better yet go to another insurance company and I bet my bottom dollar they will not ask that.

http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/1986.html says average cost of new car was $9,000, gas 89 cents, home $88,000, median income $22,000 (now $48,000..2012) ..close as I could find I paid $9,200 for my 1978 F250 4X4 new

Shouldn't matter anyhow. If you're smart about it, just get liability only. A car that old isn't worth insuring for full coverage. For 500 bucks, it's called a disposable car. If your state allows you to carry liability only that is....
