Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck quit on  while driving.
Towed it home, pulled the plugs , they were covered in black soot.
Cleaned plugs and it started right up. Ran for  5 minutes and shut it off.
When I pulled the plugs they were covered in soot again.
What could be causing this? The carb on this truck does not seem to have a gas to air adjustment.

It is running way to rich. New carb time or rebuild.

yes its way too rich. classicindustries.com has a carb for $250. but its for a 55 i dont know if they are the same . but just to give you an idea.
