Short circuit

I own a 91 Camry auto and for no apparent
reason the battery has gone flat. I've put a
multi meter across the terminals in the car
without the battery and the resistance is
zero.  After removing the 40 ohm mains fuse
from the small box on the positive terminal
lead the resistance is infinite. Do I have a
short and if so where might it be? PS. I'm no
auto electritian .

I'm having a problem following your diagnostic procedure fro what appears to be a Dead Battery? IF...you think you have a battery problem. Set your Voltmeter to DC Volts and place the leads across the battery. You should see 12.3-12.6 volts DC. The battery is then load tested with special equipment. The battery is then installed...the engine started.....and at idle you should see 13.6-14.2 volts DC with the voltmeter across the battery. What is the Original concern with this vehicle?
