Crackles when the air conditioner is turned on in cold.

Is this normal on Toyota Corolla e12 d4d?

That is the compressor kicking on. Very distinct sound. But nothing wrong as far as I can tell, that's just how it sounds.

But it is normal a new kick 30 secondes after the last one? The periodicity between the kicks is around 30 secondes?

That is a bit fast of a cycle. But it's not going to run a long time...even on a hot day my Corolla the compressor will run for about a minute or so, then off for a minute (not figuratively, I mean a true 60 seconds) and if running the defroster on a cold day it will run maybe 30 seconds then off for a minute. A little quick on yours, but not a lot
