It takes 4 to 5 Kranks on the key before my Chevy S
10 starts is there a problem and what is it

Hard to say, it could be many factors. Is there any lights lit up on the instrument gauge cluster? Any pervious maintenance?

Sounds like the fuel system is losing pressure. My 03 does the same thing. Here's how to tell. Turn the ignition to the run position and count 5 seconds. Turn the key off then immediately start the engine. If it fires right up, like mine does, the fuel system is losing pressure. There's a check valve that's part of the fuel pump assembly that wears out. By cycling the key you're building up pressure in the fuel system again. I've actually been doing that with my S10 for years to avoid the cost of replacing the fuel pump. The bed has to come off to replace the fuel pump. Hope that helps! Jim
