i have a whine coming from my car, it only happens in first gear, has anyone had a similar  prob?

sorry to say your trans will either need rebuilding due to the shaft bearing is worn out.or your cheaper way out is to replace the complete trans due to labor time and parts.

thanks, it has been like this for over two years now, its still driving, its too old to go into big repairs like that i think, r reg 98, and its done 180000 miles, still going strong though, good old audi
