My 01 Tacoma rolls over but won't start. New points and plugs about a month ago and 02 sensor replaced. Any ideas?

Something is getting confused because a 2001 Tacoma does not have (breaker) points. And at least 4 -- O2 sensors. Upstream and downstream on each bank

Maybe he said plugs only. And i don't know how many 02 sensors were replaced which ever was bad i suppose. Would that make my truck not start?

If your truck has a distributor then replace the cap and rotor as well when replacing spark plugs. If the wires are old then replace them too and make sure the correct wires go to each plug.

Absolutely correct. And a bad 02 sensor will not cause a no-start condition.

Absolutely correct. And a bad 02 sensor will not cause a no-start condition. Matter of fact Toyotas and some other cars are in 'open loop' upon cold start where the signals from the 02 sensors are ignored anyway, until they heat up to generate the proper voltage/signal then go to closed loop

in the early morning, my truck will start without any problems. But as the day heats up, and i go to the store or something, when i come out it won't want to start. Our 2000 toyota tacoma pick up bogs and sputters once in a while, mostly after it has been driven, parked for a short while and driven again. It's scary, you can press the excellerator and nothing happens. We have to pull over to the side of the road, it will sputters for a while, and eventually it goes again. we just had it serviced and looked at, nothing came up in the diagnosic check aside from it running a "little rich", what ever that means. All plugs and wires were changed, sensors have been checked and seem to be okay, even our mechanic is at a loss of what it could be. It doesn't happen all the time, after it was serviced it hadn't happened for like 4 weeks and we thought it was fixed but it just happened twice this weekend. The idle on the truck is also kind of iffy...we have to rev the engine alot when we start it up, it seems like if we don't do that, it will die out on us. Any answers? 3 Answers
