why does my 1996 pontiac grand am pull to eaither side when i am trying to go straight

just replaced the front struts and realized the outer tie rods need replaced ,wich will happen today. the car went down the road just fine befor I replaced the struts other than bouncing when I hit bumps that's why I replaced the struts

Pulling to the side is typical for bad tie rod ends. If you have a shop do it have them check the inner tie rods as well, then get a good wheel alignment. It also wouldn't hurt to replace sway bar links, as those are cheap and easy to do, since you got new struts.
