Slow acceleration

Can having a bad connection on my positive cord
going to the battery cause the car to have trouble
shifting gears and then it will die after about 10
mins of driving it

get a new battery...mostly is the Ground side to give us problems...NEW battery 1997 is a fossil~ if electrical will most assuredly be a bad GROUND from the battery to the chassis ground ....and to the engine...both place 30 amp CABLE~ not sure if that will cause the TCM (transmission control module) not to operate...to put a NEW battery (cause you need that after 10 years) and new Cables (if the corrosion is blue and nasty) and you might probably be okay....try and see~
