Why won't my solenoid stop running?

Asked by Joey Sep 21, 2017 at 01:40 PM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Grand Am. The car has been starting & stopping just fine. About
2 hours ago I went to start it & it wouldn't turn over. The solenoid started
running but wouldn't turn off until I unhooked the battery cable. I waited a while
then reattached it & it began running again. I shifted the cables around a bit & it
stopped. But it started again when I turned the ignition. Rinse/repeat.

Well you answered your own question..you wiggled the wires around and it stopped..whatever you wiggled is where its broke..check the wiring harness for damaged wires
