Is it normal for a 2005 Pontiac SV6 with new body style to have tire size as "215/70R16" ?

Certainly sounds normal. Why are you concerned, do you have a non-matching tire in a set of four, or has someone replaced all four with the size you are indicating? You might also check the door placard on the driver's door frame or door sill and see what the original sized-tires were for the vehicle. It should be printed on this sticker.
