What size travel trailer can my car tow?

The fifth generation Grand Am really doesn't have the transmission, cooling or brakes to pull a trailer safely. Some people have pulled small boats but I wouldn't try a heavier load.

top rating of 1000 lbs- DO NOT EXCEED, and pull it in reg. drive (or 3) so you don't wreck the overdrive. If you exceed the weight, you could lose steering control which would have serious consequences in addition to any transmission problems.

You might have to make your own connection for the trailer brake & taillights. I would say no more than 500 lbs max. no more than 50 mph
