Starting disables due to electronic throttle control error?

Asked by Amber Sep 20, 2012 at 12:30 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I have a 2006 grand prix, I was driving earlier & it just died. The control panel read "Starting Disabled Due to
Electronic Throttle Control" & then "Reduced Engine Power" it took about 5 minutes but I finally got it to start again!
Any suggestions about what might be the problem?? Thanks!

I would at least try to disconnect the battery for 2 minutes to clear the codes in the computer. Try that. See if it comes back or just simply goes away.

Hello on the Chysler engine the are two sensors one is before the throttle body door and the other is after the throtle body door. clean the both with throttle body cleaner. Now if the light is soild before you clean it. This should work. But, if the light is blinking then change the sensor after the throttle body.
