The G6 does not have a dipstick. The only way to check the fluid level is to get under the car and remove the 11mm tap plug located near the front of the tranny. The fluid level is correct when it just barely comes out of the plug hole. With the plug out, slowly add fluid at the fill cap located in the engine compartment, until it drips out the plug hole. That's the correct fluid level. Caution: the car needs to be warmed up, and dead level. So jacking the front end won't work, you need to jack the entire car, dead level. It's best to do this on a lift.
