97 ford ranger 3.0 starts up runs then dies out. fires back up and repeats

it dies out because, with most 4 stroke engines your relay has to communicate with the fuel pump to get the fuel to the injector. Of course, turning the key on, the ECM has to tell the fuel relay to do it's job. I'd replace the relay, first before digging out a pump
