Intermittent over heating

Asked by Dehzi May 14, 2014 at 10:46 AM about the 2005 Nissan Altima

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The alternator was changed on my 2005 Nissan Altima SER.  In order to access the
alternator, the radiator was removed.  Now it intermittently wants to heat up & boil over.
The radiator was flushed but still wants to boil over.  What could be the problem?  Could
the mechanic have caused this heating issue?

Did the mechanic change the thermostat as well. It has been my experience that "intermittent" over heating is almost always the thermostat sticking. I would start there as it is a pretty simple thing to remove and replace. They are also pretty cheap, right around $7 to $15.
