2015 RX350 needs new battery clamps but is cable long enough

Asked by Eric Jan 18, 2021 at 10:07 AM about the 2015 Lexus RX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Positive clamp fell apart when I was changing out battery this weekend.
Doesn't feel like there's enough give in the cable to cut off the existing clamp
and put on a new one. Is there any way to get a bit more length, or does one
just need to force it?

The correct way to do this is to replace the cable. Check with your local auto parts store or Lexus Dealer for a new cable. If the cable is part of the engine compartment wiring harness your Lexus Dealer can advise you on replacement. For future reference, put Vaseline on the battery posts and the cable ends to prevent corrosion. Hope that helps! Jim
