What is the average life of a Lancer 2003 automatic transmission? thanks.

Well, being a Mitsubishi, I would not expect it to last 100,000. You know how Chryslers had horrible transmissions? Those were all made by Mitsubishi/of a Mitsubishi design.

My '03 Lancer has over 120,000 miles on it. Zero problems so far.

prob at least 200k i would think unless you beat on it.

well the reason why chryslers transmissions are horrible is because they buy them from mitsubishi they dont make there own so what do they do? they buy them with the cheapest and lowest parts possible to save on cost. So that doesnt mean that mitsubishi cars have bad transmission because they make there own.

Honestly it all depends on how well you take care of them. Change the fluid and filter regularly, don't abuse it, keep the coolant regularly changed and filled too, and you will get 200-300k easy.

well i have a 02 lancer and i have put 2 transmissions in it. you can change the filter unless you wana pay a tran shop $1500 more or less to drop it out and pull the trans out and pull the case apart and put the new one in. its a real painin the a$$ if you dont know what you doing. the trans that came with tha car exploded on my girl friend on her way to work that planetary gear split on it. and the trans that i just pulled out the passenger side cv bearing went bad it was cheeper to get a nem trans then replacing the bearing. so all and all if it goes again i am going to put a standard trans in it. there just junk lol

i have an 03 lancer with 175k on it and the transmission just went out. I had to replace the o2 sensor about 10k ago other than that it is a very reliable car

I also have lancer 03, at 1,23k some thing z wrong in its gear N is blinking and car is stuck seems to be in one gear, allow speed 40km/hr when i checked on computer the it said is: line sol. open. Is there any expert told me about this fault/error

I have an 03' lancer es manual Trans, and I bought it at 71k miles...it now has 227k miles on it...I've only spent about 3k on it over the 9 years I've owned it, but with regular oil changes, and no tune ups, it's starting to run rough, but what do u expect...with proper maitence, the car should run at least 500k miles...but most people are idiots behind the wheel, so...it gets also warm my engine up 5 min before I drive it every day...no matter what the weather is like...

I got over 250,000 miles out of my 2003 Lancer Oz Rally transmission.... and the only reason the transmission needed to be replaced is because of something stupid that I did. To pass an annoying driver, I changed into a lower gear to gain speed. A week or so later, my transmission went out. Please don't do this with your car. It cost me over $2,000 to replace it.

I got my lancer 02 manual transmission at 128,000 miles and now it has 194,000 miles on it with everything up to date on all maintenance. I run the hell out of it and just recently got the transmission replaced because of the bearing were all going out and making my clutch go out every year. Weird thing is I bought this car and a week later my clutch went out. No one would tell me y until I took it to a family mechanic and he told me it was the bearings from the tranny. I only spent $800 on transmission parts and labor that's including the clutch and all the motor mounts being replaced. But my car has never left me stranded and now that it's hitting almost the 200,000 mark I don't know if it will make it pass that.

I have 2005 Mitsubishi lancer Es with 1,1111 miles had to replace ac and alternator and radiator plastic side hade a crack engine run super real quite engine no back fire no spark knock no after run when key is off same plug wire same spark plugs same roater cap same water pump ,,,use high test gas tail pipe of the car is clean no black same as day on going on 11 years runs super

My lancer 1999 mileage is now 396,321 still running fine.

I bought my daughter's 02 Lancer at 60,000mi........I now have 214,000...:).....and still running great!.....burning some oil now, and only replaced the plastic radiator and driver-side CV joint......1 tune-up and 1 tranny fluid change.....everything still working, though I had to recharge ac myself last week....hope it holds.....Edmund's says car's worth $1200, so do I sell for what I can get, or drive it til it's dead lead- sled, then worth maybe $100 at a salvage yard? :/

My LANCER 1,3 97' had 600000 km,one water pump,three camshaft belts no tensioner changed,no oil consumption ,same oil in the gearboks from factory,all my friends had riden it many times I oveer rev it to the rev limiter like crazy,its second LANCER I have before had 91 model 1,512 valve carburator,no problems perfect car ,if I didnt put engine cleaner from STP in it will go milion km..for me MITSU is No 1 car..I looking to by L200 fot my dirt bikes to transport..

My 2009 Lancer has 311,988 miles on it. No problems at all.

asalaamu alayqum warehmatullahi wabarakatahu. my lancer 2012 did 44,099 miles and then i had to replac clutch, timing belt, gearbox and a cylinder on it, the cars worth 5,500 grand and i had to spend 8 grand to repair it but how come my model is from the year 2012 and did less than 50 k miles and then it screwed up ?????????????????????????????

my lancer sedan year of manufacture 2006 has 350000 km and except regular service i have no any problems.

2002 Oz Rally just broke the timing belt at 280,000. Only major repair was the exhaust manifold. NHTSA had no complaints found for that model year, I believe.

I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS and I just hit 190,000 miles. Original Transmission and Engine. I commute 50 miles to and from work Monday-Friday, and I definitely don't baby her. The only complaint I have is that the tip of the hood is beginning to rust. I don't plan on addressing the rust since I'm not sure how much longer I'll have the car for, but I'm hoping to make it to 200k.

My 1995 lancer auto has just passed 100,000 miles and still running sweet. Trouble is the rust! I think I’ll run it until it dies as it’s only worth £200!! Best car I’ve ever had, bought 2nd hand in 2000 at 38k miles.

My daily runner is a Mitsubishi Lancer 2009 auto....its got 300k still running great...! i was checking what the maximum any lancer has done.

Had never heard such good news about the Mitsubishi Lancer, until now on this page. All in all on my opinion, Mitsubishi is a good vehicle. I bought mine in the year 2011 and it's a 2006 Lancer Es. I bought it for probably the same reason every one buys a small car. Fuel economy savings, we as I was saying, I bought my Lancer and it only had 63,865 miles on it. Now it it reads 117,985 Miles. I've noticed that this little cars can stay on the high pretty good. I've traveled eleven hundred miles with no problems with it. And some times pushing it to a hundred miles per hour in some instances. As far as maintenance is concerned, I take good of it. So far, the things I've replaced are the two oxygen sensors, brakes, spark plugs, and tires. The little bugger is running pretty darn good. No problems yet.

My 2003 lancer ES has 248500 and still running strong. I've always done transmission fluid flush every 80-100k miles. Oil change every 3-5k. Radiator replaced at 120k. Always ran on 91 gas. It's a great car if you do the regular maintenance in a timely manor. I'd say the transmission life depends on the maintenance record. 150k-300k is my guess.

Update: Still have the 08 Lancer GTS, automatic CVT transmission. Still the original engine and trans, just hit 211k miles and still going strong. Had a tie rod snap pulling out of my driveway between now and my last post, but that's the only significant repair that had to be made. Will update at 225k

Got a 2005 mitsubishi lancer ralliart manual and it has 334,000 kms on it and it still works perfectly.

Have a 2006 Lancer ES automatic and have NEVER had such a reliable, trouble free, low, low, low, low $maintance$ car in my long, long life (so old!)!! I reluctantly got the timing belt & water pump changed 12 yrs into ownership at 72 or 74,000 miles (can't remember) I think they were fine, but did it cause the Firestone mechanics that do my annual inspection & oil change had been harping on me about since 60,000 miles. Told me the sky was going to fall if I didn't do it, so I did. No regrets. Prior to that, the only thing that wore out and would have cost $300 plus to fix was: at 11 yrs old the head gasket got brittle or worn and started leaking. As a woman who never got serious under the hood ever before.... I literally did the job myself! I went to O'Reillys and WITH the degreaser for the engine cleanup prior to working on it "all in" it was $50 and that included the spark plugs that were drowned by the leaking oil from the worn out gasket. So I got out my 10 mm socket wrench and other than the socket for the spark plugs... THAT WAS THE ONLY TOOL I NEEDED!!! rofl Can't beat that! The interior fabric is now wearing very thin in a few places, and despite waxing a few times a year (obviously not enough) the paint on the hood, trunk & top starting fleck off a couple years ago - mechanically speaking this car is AMAZING!! So amazing that I have been shopping for a new car for over 2 yrs and can't find anything I like enough to actually pay all that $$ for it AND I'm terrified I'll never have a car so cheap to operate and so easy to "do-it-yourself" ever again. It rides smoother and quieter than the new Corollas!! (2018 model) Cheers to all of you other old Lancer drivers!! We keep on smiling all the way to the bank!

02 lancer with 230k+ miles on it still runs like a beaut

I have a 2004 Lancer with 157,000 miles on it , I've had to replace practically everything underneath, Tie rods, sway bars , rocker arms, engine mounts, control arms. 1,000s of dollars.I've dumped so much into it , it has to last me. so far engine is good.

Daughter's 03 lancer es automatic approching 200k and still solid. Rolled the dice and had the timing belt kit installed. burns a quart between changes but still has some zing. Fingers crossed.

I have a 2008 Lancer GTS standard transmission it’s caused me some havoc over the last 2.5 year; replaced entire exhaust system, brand new front and rear callipers abs tomorrow we are resurfacing the fly wheel and replacing the clutch. I love my car though so I’ll drive it till it dies. Currently 240 000 km!!

I have 250k + on mine. It's been the most reliable car I've ever own. I've had it since 2005 it's now 2020. Went through 3 radiators, 2 timing belts, a couple of coolant hoses. 3 transmission flushes (added lucus transmission additive to keep the trans alive), 2 O2 sensors, 2 wheel bearings, 1 set of gaskets (not head gasket), 1 ac recharge, 1 egr valve, a few other minor things for emissions. I have no check engine light, and no major issues in 15 years. Keep up on maintenance (very low maintenance car) and it will last 300k. I love my lancer

I have an 03 OZ Rally, with the manual trans...my story is a bit different than most. I saw this car in a buy here pay here (Do not recommend), I grossly overpaid for the car because I had been wanting a lancer of that year. I originally wanted the Evo of the same year Evo VII, but I new I wouldn't ever afford the damn thing. I settled for the gutless OZ with cosmetic "Enhancements", I have 214k on it, I had to replace the clutch after the first 3 years of owning it. I am still trucking along, 214k and I have had it 6 years now. I have some issues with it, mainly electrical, the wiring harness in these is notoriously bad. Over the years I have replaced the radiator, an O2 sensor, and about a million other little things, but overall the most major things I had to do were as a result of neglect by the previous owner. I just couldn't let the car die, its become my money pit and is my daily driver for work. Currently I have an issue with the fan relay being selective on when it wants to work, and my ignition switch is going out. Other than that, I have a lot of cosmetic things to work on, Alabama heat is no joke and it will eat your car alive from the outside in. All my trim is cracked and needs replacing, but mechanically she has been a damn good car.

2003 Mitsubishi lancer OZ Rally edition 240,567 miles and still going strong. Just have to maintain just like every other vehicle.
