At light comes on an stays in 3 Rd gear?

I have a 04 Mazda 3 hatchback 2.3 liter when
driving on the hwy in 4 th my car jerks really
hard an drops to 3 Rd gear which is why it jerks
cause it's dropping down a gear an it stats stuck
in 3 until I come to a stop then it will drop to 1st
gear but at light stays on??? Please help

Theres a sensor on the tranny that is hooked to your shifter by a bar link, and if out of place or lose or is bad it will do that, when or if it happens again try wiggling the shifter not to hard and ahould help until u get it replace not exp at all if you do it yourself mine was right in front of the tranny easy to get to.
