engine light went on shortly after starting a 2018 Traverse. what could be the problem?

my engine light went on in my 2018 traverse about 15 minutes into my ride.  
what could it be?

There are lots of sensors in new cars. Check the gas cap first. The only way to know is to read the codes from the computer. I would go back to the dealer as it should be under warranty.
