Should I purchase a car in the UK or Ireland?

I had planned to import a car from the UK to Ireland as I am aware of the
potential savings that can be made and that fact that the car is generally in
better condition from the UK. Although the only thing that I'm unsure about is
what can I do and/or who can I turn to is something happens to the car. Is
there any legal cover that will aid me is something happens? Do UK warranties
carry over to Ireland? I simply don't know and for that reason I'm nervous to
purchase the car from the UK. Even though it is a fairly modern car and all the
rest, I just don't know if there is anything I can do if something goes wrong.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a third party mechanic or service inspect the vehicle prior to purchasing and purchase a warranty. Check with the local shipping company you are using to determine what fees you will have to pay on top of the shipping costs.
