Can you put a taller 18 inch tire on a Tahoe to gain some ground clearance

sure..your speed o will show slower than your going...

Yes you can but too tall of a tire will create tire clearance problems and you will also lose power and acceleration unless you install lower ratio gears. Going up one or two sizes is safe.
