2003 Navigator Rear Strut replacement

Asked by humnbass Mar 07, 2011 at 01:46 PM about the 2003 Lincoln Navigator

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The solenoid or something just broke on the rear driver's side strut of my 2003 navigator and some kind of oil leaked all under the wheel well of the car.  I checked with the dealer and they want 348.95 for the replacement strut.  is this something that I can change myself or does it have to be done at the dealership.  Will that oil have to be replaced in the system or is that just what was in the Strut itself?

thanks

I don't have an answer but I have the exact same problem. I have an 03 navigator and hydraulic oil leaked all unde the wheel well. It happened right after i had new tires put on the car. Not sure if they caused the problem but can't imagine they would admit it if they did. Anyway I was gonna shop for a strut but wasn't sure how much it would cost and if it's really as simple as it looks. Does your 03 have air suspension system. Mine does. I can't see if anyone answere your question please let me know. I have the same issue.
