2016 Camry A/C intermittently doesn’t work

Asked by Bennjammin Sep 11, 2018 at 10:40 PM about the 2016 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I start my car, there is a 50/50 chance that the ac
works or doesn’t. When it works. It works great. The other
times, it’s like it just won’t turn on. I can set the fan dial to
any setting and it makes no difference.  Any advice?

Any warning lights on or flashing when the AC is turned on?

If the blower motor was bad...Seems to me...you would have the similar problem in the Heat Mode. This vehicle's AC System is Computer Controlled. The diagnosis usually starts with a special Guage Set to check refrigerant pressures. Absent that....suggest you have a Pro with the equipment to diagnose this issue.

Ok, I found out that the heat doesn’t work when this happens also. Didn’t learn this until today. Thank you for the input!

I have the same car and almost the same issue. The heat always works. Pressures ok, no blinking light. I can be going down the road and it starts to work. When it works, it is very cold and continues to function until I shut the car off. Outside temperature doesn't make a difference.
