sync 3?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I was told that the new explorer will NOT come with the new sync3 and be
stuck with the old my ford touch infotainment system.  That is a real shame.
Guess I will be looking elsewhere for my new suv...

The 2016 Explorers will NOT be coming with Sync3 unless they decide to do a late build update. Sync with MyFord Touch has been fully updated and doesn't have the lag it did when it first came out though.

Yes they have fixed some of the issues but the interface was flawed so badly ford is dumping it for the new sync3 in all new future builds.... so why would I buy a new car with old outdated tech? why are they still selling old tech for a premium price and not updating to the newest systems available? You can purchase a new navigation system from Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer and others that run circles around the old myFord Touch system and it is even less money. It seems like some of the auto manufactures keep to the old school where you design a car 3 to 5 years before you build it and then you don't change the design much until it is in the market for another 3 to 5 years. I really like everything else about the new platinum edition explorer but I am voting with my pocketbook for the cars with the latest tech... I just will never figure out why they don't update the high end cars with the latest tech and sell the old radios with the base model.
