Ford Edge lifgate stuck and battery draining

My mom has a 2015 Ford Edge. A few days ago the liftgate got stuck. I was able to get it open but it still sticks and now the battery keeps running down. She had the battery replaced a couple of days ago but when she tried to start the vehicle yesterday the battery was dead again. Any suggestions on what the fix might be? She can't get it into the local dealership for a couple more days and can't afford a rental, but with my dad's medical conditions they need to have a drivable car. Thanks.

Most likely a limit switch failure. Have you tried disconnecting the lift gate fuses?

Definitely start by disconnecting the lift gate fuses when first get out of the car and your battery is still good and if your battery is still good the next morning you’ll know for sure it’s the lift gate of course if you don’t want to risk it being something else then just disconnect the battery - cable first and to be extra cautious you can also disconnect the + cable also

Don’t disconnect the battery, doing so could cause programming issues and make systems not work plus it can put the vehicle into lockout mode for the security system and then your going nowhere.
